Right that does it Im quitting, Im sick of feeling like **** and wasting my money. Im really looking forward to being off them, cant wait to feel healthy again and have extra money.
I think the thing thats after pushing me is last week I had 20euro to spend on food for the week and yet the first thing I bought was a packet of john player. Its stupid being so relient on something your body doesnt even need. So please wish me luck Ive tried to quit in the past with no success but this time I think Im motivated enough.
    Cheers!

Fair play to you, you've taken the first step! If you can't face going cold turkey off them, I'd urge you to try some of the NRTs available. Different types can help different people - I found the gums to be disgusting, but have made it to 4 weeks fag free with the inhalers. Maybe a chat with the chemist can point you in the right direction...

Also, try using the "quitometer" on stopsmoking.ie. I find it to be a great motivator and it will let you kkeep track of how much money you've saved, and how many hours you've added on to your life by quitting. Best of luck with it and make sure to let us know how you get on...

Good luck with it. You won't regret it. I gave up a year and a half ago. The first few weeks are horrible. I got colds nearly every month for about four months.
I used Nicquitin CQ lozenges, started at 4mg strength for a while and only took one when I really really felt like pulling my hair out. Stayed on those for about a month and then down to the 2mg strength and wasn't on those for long before I was off them altogether. Best thing I have done for ages. Feel really good after a while, so keep at it.

    Good luck.

    Good on you!

I was the opposite to you re caffeine. I had one STRONG cup a day (3 spoons), it apparently boosts your metabolism. (Don't have late at night.)

Well done and good luck with it. After many hopeless attempts I finally believe I'm off them, just coming up to 6 months. Hope you find your route to success, for me it was mentally accepting it was going to be difficult and dealing with it. Thousands of people just like you and me have managed it. Keep at it and good luck

Good luck... I've just reached day 5 and there have been some struggles. Am doing it using the old fashioned willpower method but reading Allen Carr as I go... though I am finding him a bit smug, interested to know what others made of him

Congratulations OP, i gave up three years ago, i can't believe i am still off them. I smoked 30 a day maybe a little more! :O I bought the alan carr book and just kept reading and saying oh my god this is so true!!! But i didnt keep smoking while reading it i decided i was off them and that was it, but when i felt like i was getting weak i'd open any page in the book and read it. Just keep going when you get weak! It is definately my biggest achievement to date!!!
My advice to you is ... keep two ciggarettes in your house, so when you are awake at night remember you can smoke them if you really have to but knowing you have a choice you wont!!! I think thats what kept me going also.

So proud of you OP keep it going. You should keep updating this post if you think its going to help you. Go day by day ... i was still counting the days when i was two months in ... then i went week by week. now i am going by the years :D
