Yeah, hopefully there will be something happening here within days rather than weeks. according to posts on other forums ch5 contract should have now ran out, would be great to see it free to air regardless of what some people think of it,s content.

It's a poor channel not worth the wait.

Personally I don't watch an awful lot on it but there are some things of interest. Football and American Football.

Have to disagree with you 200motels, I think it is okay...maybe because Im an ice Hockey fan, but there are quite a lot of good programmes on FIVE which is more than can be said for RTE 1 or TV 3. And now you have a plus-it is Free to Air on satellite which can not be said for Rte 1 Rt2 Tg4 or Tv3...
I have had FIVE on Freeview for years and now I dont have to worry about picture break-up....yeee haw:p

I have it also for about 3 years and rarely do I watch it because theres nothing to watch.RTE1 is a brilliant station CH5 wouldn't come near it, as for TV3 rubbish.

How can you possibly compare RTÉ One to Five? Completely different types of programming. Compare it to RTÉ Two and you will find more programmes worth watching there compared to Five.

IMO there is hardly anything to watch on Five. I've had it continiously since Analogue Sat days.

Fifth. Gear and gadget show. My TV tastes are different to watty's obviously.

Being a licence payer and free thinking person I believe I can compare it to RTE 1 if I feel like it...lol
But I wouldnt compare it to RTE 2 as I do not believe Five is not near as good as RTE 2, but I do believe it is much better than RTE 1 and as I said, is free on digital sat-but that is only my opinion and you have your opinion.
And no-I think that most of what RTE 1 show (including repeats) is pure rubbish and I would not care if it never went FTA on satellite...

    Is five available?
If so whats the Sky box code?

Forget RTE v's Five - tv is tv so if you have enought channels chances are one of them might have something interesting!

My remotes batteries are worn out channel hopping.

God I remember waiting for RTE to open in the afternoon - black and white with one button! Then we got 3 English channels on cable. My poor Da spent most of the night on his knees pushing 4 buttons! ( Or was it a Dial?)

Anyone remember the first remote? big box with a cable connecting it to the tv:D
