Tricolamania or something is when someone pulls their hair out...it turns into a habit and often leads to little patches of baldness. Does anyone do this...or am i the only person in the world

Yes it's real and a condition/habit related to stress.
There was a thread about it a while back in the Bio/medical forum.

    Trichotillomania

Lots of people do this, some to a worse extent than others. I've been to both ends of the scale. Currently still pulling but have hair, thin though and very short on top, whereas my hair was naturally extremely thick.

But i still feel lucky to have it as i have pulled til i was bald.

I suggest taking a good look at your lifestyle and seeing what triggers it. It may require counselling, its an extremely hard habit to break.

In my mid 20's I suffered from this for a number of years.

Used to pull out great clumps and ended up looking like a monk on top.

It probably was stress related and the way I got rid of it was by getting really tight haircuts from then on.

I worked with a girl who had a bad case of this. She had no eyebrows or eyelashes.

There was actually a bit on this condition for a few mins on Channel 4 earlier this week. Embarassing Teenage Bodies I think it was called. You can catch up on the episodes for free online if you wanna find out more. or maybe go to the website.

yess its called trichotillomania, im 14 years old and i have it too.. your not the only one.
i pull my hair and twist it and rub it under my nose on my upper-lip for comfort. i have extensions in my hair so u cant recognise the bald patches.

I pull out my eyelashes and eyebrows and there is one small patch on my head that I pull out. I try not to and I've no idea why I do it. What annoys me is I always unwittingly end up with a bald patch right in the middle of my eyebrows and I never realise it until I happen to glance in a mirror.

I have it also, not as extreme as some of the other cases here. I think I started when I was about 14, I pull out my hair and mess around with it, I curl it with my nail. At one stage I had a tiny bald patch at the top of my head but then changed tactic and pull from different areas.
Again, it's not as bad as it used to be. I actually haven't done it in a while but I know that when I'm anxious or bored it happens. There's a lot of people in the same boat here so hopefully you can ease the vicious cycle and learn what triggers it.

I wouldn't say I suffer from this but I would spend hours pulling out my hair, its not a problem for me as I have so much of it that it wouldn't make a dent. It is something that I notice alot of girls do but it can be more related to boredom than stress in alot of cases. If I am stressed though it is something I do but so far it hasn't given me bald patches.
