BF's warts - could this be affecting me?

ok, regular poster but I'm going unreg for this.

Not looking for medical advice either but just wondering if other people have experience of this.

My (totally wonderful) BF has for the last number of months had a wart on his finger, he's also got one on the side of his mouth for a few weeks. He's been seeing a dermatologist about getting rid of them and just when they are nearly gone they seem to reappear again.

Anyway, my question is not in relation to his warts, I'm just wondering if he could have passed them on to me in some way. I've never ever had a wart myself and still don't. However, my last smear came back with slight abnormalities and I'm wondering if the wart could have something to do with it.

I've previously had smears which have all been fine, I've also had a full STD screen in the last 12 months (which included a check for warts) and that was also fully clear.

I'm not seeking to get medical advice as I'm going back for another smear in January and I'll discuss it with the doctor then, just wondering really if it is possible that a wart could on contact cause an abnormal smear. My gut instinct is that it could.

I know its not a big worry but I still find myself worrying everytime the BF touches me.

    In short, no.

Warts on the hand are a different strain of the virus to warts on the genitals. Also the strain of HPV which results in genital warts is not the strain that develops into cervical cancer so it wouldn't cause an abnormal smear. Speak to your doctor when you back for another smear and speak to your boyfriend about him having his warts removed.
