DSi - The End of Homebrew?

From what I've been reading today, it looks like flash cards (R4,M3,DSTT etc.) do not work in the DSi.
    CycloDS - Failed
    G6 DS Real - Failed
    M3 DS Real - Failed
    Supercard DS One - Failed
    iTouch DS - Failed
    FCard - Failed
    NCard - Failed
    M3 DS Simply - Failed
    U2DS - Failed

As far as I know, all DSi games are digitally signed, and will not run without the signature. For older DS games, their CRCs are added to a whitelist built into the firmware, so original games will also work in the DSi.

The resourceful card manufacturers might find a way around it, but with upgradable firmware on the DS, I'm sure there will be a prolonged game of leapfrog trying to keep ahead of each other.

The DSi is not out here until next Summer, so we can sit back and see what happens (beware importing the Japanese version - no english at all in firmware).

    Interesting times ahead.

Oh well, it's not as if the problem hasn't existed with the PSP for some years now ;)

...and last time I checked, Haxx0rs are still up on the scoreboard :D

The new SD slot itself is sure to be hacked

I read an article about this in a magazine today (think it was Gamer) and I am not impressed by what they are saying so far. I just don't see the point in upgrading and imo the only reason this is coming out is to combat piracy and to print money for Nintendo :(

It's the arsing around with the DSi Shop that's getting me the most. All there is available is a web browser for at least another month. You'd think that since it's essentially a new format, they could at least have one or two launch titles. Complete pisstake.

At least the camera's good for a larf, they put a good bit of work into that. Playing around with people's faces is surprisingly good for mindless entertainment.
