don't worry this is not wheter or not HRM are any good.
I was wearing one last night for the first time ,but some times it was reading my pulse ,yes i did wet it before i went out. Is there some kind of gel you can get to help with conductivity??
OR do i just have to stop running and wet it when it cant pick up a signal.
    thanks

    Google for Electrode Gel.

Also, I believe turning the strap around so the pick-up is against your back is one of the recommended things to try.

Perhaps you're wearing it too high on your chest so that the pick-up is not making proper contact all the time. I wear mine just below my sternum and have no problem at all with it.

    Hope this helps.
