Hi, does anyone know of any websites that has a large archive of photographers pictures, spanning all the years of photography? Preferably in a decent sized resolution too.

I have been finding pictures in photography books that I would like to use in an assignment for college but most of the pictures don't seem to be available on the net. And I don't have access to a scanner at the moment.

Google is your answer. There are quite lots of galleries and studies about history of photography.

I have searched on google. But I can't find alot of the photos when I search for them. I'm surprised that I can't.......

I'm not looking for ancient photographs. Some have been from the 1920's, even some from the 60's/70's I can't find.

That's the issue of known photographs. Most of them have copyright and they are being mostly published only in print.

oh ok. Maybe getting them scanned will be the best way.

    Thanks!

Well, by scanning them you are about to breach the copyright.
I would suggest just providing links to picture on Wikipedia or some official gallery.

    Educational uses tbh.

I couldn't provide links for them because I need to present the images as a diary, getting it bound like a thesis. Maybe I'm better off just using images of better known photographers.
