    Hi

basically, can i mix faster and slower ram ?

    details:
In my core 2 duo rig (asus p5b deluxe), 266 FSB, 1.83mhz core

    I have 2 X 1GB DDR2 @ 400 mhz (which i guess makes it DDR2 3200) and i have room for another 2 X 1GB

is there any advantage in buying really fast ram ( DDR2 PC2-8500 ) instead of DDR2 PC2-6400 ) - the crucial.com site gives me the option of both... WIll the RAM run at the speed of the weakest link?

bearing in mind that i'm likely to also upgrade my CPU to a Q6600 soon too.

Thanks - if there is any FAQ on this i've missed, let me know!

It'll all run at the speed of the slowest ram.
