Hey! Is this book worth buying do you think? Would it just be helpful for Dr Levenes part of the course?

Use the library for books. Don't buy books. If you are going to buy books wait until your sophistor years at least if you are so inclined to buy books.

You should find a few copies of it in the library. Don't panic too much if you can't get your hands on it, just hold onto the tutorial sheets for the moment, they should be plenty to tide you over for the Christmas and Easter exams (10% each). You'll have loads of time to find it before the 70% end of year exam.

You do a computers module in Hilary term worth 10%, not bad for making a couple of Powerpoint slides and Excel graphs!

To be honest, your leaving cert Maths book will do - it's a piss easy course. Seriously, don't buy a book. Use the library if you have to.

Agreed. Have a look at the exam papers and you'll see how ridiculously easy the course actually is [that is, if you did HL Maths for the LC].

I see so everyone says dont get the book could someone give me a link to where I can get these papers?.....Also I dont get the whole matrices bit with the whole Elementary Row Mechanics thingy I dont remember doing it for the leaving cert!?

It's not on the LC no, but solving simultaneous equations is, and that stuff with the matrices is basically just simultaneous equations, but in a grid. (You know, multiply the first equation by 2 then take it away from the second one to get rid of "y" or whatever, that sort of stuff.)

    Past exam papers: here.
