Singlet vs T-Shirt

Just thinking about the BAC kit and the whole singlet vs T shirt thing. I only switched to technical t's rather than cotton in my 3rd or 4th marathon (yes it did make a major difference!) but haven't worn a singlet before for either racing or training.

Is tehre any difference or advantage to a singlet over a T?

I don't think so, I wore a singlet for rathfarnham 5k and didn't notice any difference to my normal tech shirts, I think for boards ac I would prefer a singlet and for those who like running in t-shirts they can just put the singlet over it.

When i used to race a lot of track and CC I used to wear only a singlet. Used to love the feeling of getting read for a race then putting the club gear colours on. So much better then just a T-Shirt.

I think the advantage of the T-shirt is it keeps the sun off your shoulders in the summer (i know - what sun?) but isn't much warmer in warm weather. I'd prefer the t shirt but could live with a singlet.

I could put up with a singlet for races, but I just feel that I'd get more use out of a t-shirt as I'd not be wearing a singlet during training runs.

personally, id prefer a tshirt. i think robinph summed up how i feel perfectly. much happier running in a tshirt.

99.9% of the running/excercise i do would be on my own casual/training running/gym and i wouldnt wear a singlet for that. i'd buy it to wear for races but id rather have something i would use at other times.

Having always raced in a singlet, I think I'd feel severely restricted in a t-shirt, plus I want to keep as cool as possible so the less clothes the better. up the Singlet!

I prefer singlets. I find the cooling better with them. I must have particularly sweaty armpits :-)

personally I'd go for t-shirt but that's down to hairy-ness.

    Hi all,
    As a prospective 'associate member', I'd prefer a T-shirt.

I'd only use a singlet for racing, but I'll be sticking with my own colours for that.

AFAIK, If BAC wants to be a full AAI club, you'll need to have a singlet for AAI races. It is a rule, but rarely enforced I think [just like tucking in your singlet into your shorts is a rule].
I don't ever wear our club shorts - they're just not comfortable enough.

Our club, Athenry AC, has both singlets and T shirts. Many members feel the singlet is a step too far! They'd rather hide their farmers tans!

    Alan

I think that TimeToRun will do printing onto technical running t-shirts from having a look round their pages. This page just gives prices for name printing, but this page suggests that they will do more than just straight name printing as well if needed.

Crikey you learn something every day. Like starting blocks being compulsory not optional for sprints. And I thought UKA had some mad rules, inherited from the AAA.

I think Id prefer a singlet, lighter and airier! can always throw a t-shirt on underneath.
