Last week I drove from Limerick to Carlow via Portlaoise and it took approx 3 hrs. Is there a cross country route I could take that would take less time ? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Limerick - Mountrath - Abeyleix - Carlow
    or
    Limerick - Borris-in-Ossory - Ballycolla - Abbeyleix - Carlow

Take your pick, and look at Google Maps.

I do the limerick - Borris-in-Ossory - Ballacolla - Abbeyleix - Carlow route every month, I left Limerick at exactly 3pm on Saturday and was in Carlow Town at 4.45pm and did not go over the speed limit.
