Am I paranoid about Acronis 2009?

I noticed my machine(XP Pro) starting to get a bit glitchy in the last few days.

Things like opening shortcuts or links were starting to take ages so I decided it was time for a wipe.

I reinstalled (XP Pro) & everything was great, nice new fresh install.
Then I started to add my preferred programs. updates & set the system to the way I like it (as you do) but now it is at the self same thing that caused me to wipe it in the first place

    Slow opening Web pages Etc.

Then I thought to my self, what has happened that caused this annoyance?

The only common denominator I can think of is Acronis 2009.

I had it installed for only a day when I first noticed this clitchy crap & I have it installed on the clean install too.

I created the Acronis secure zone, made the backup of the system & activated the F11 option for the recovery partition.

Could Acronis be that demanding on the system to cause my issues?

    Anyone experienced anything similar?

    Or, am I just paranoid?

Did you check if it was your internet connection?

Yep, that was my first port of call.

There's definitely something not right but it does all point to Internet access.
I've just connected another machine to my Broadband & it seems to be fine

Something else has just caught my attention now, all the IE7 security settings have been tightened up on all the machines normally connected to my network & I didn't change any of them. I wonder if it could have been an update???

I'm going to have to start back tracking & see if I can nail it :(

I've also got Acronis but I disable all Acronis startup items in msconfig and manually do a backup every so often. I did find it using more ram than I liked and on my sons pc with only 2Gb ram it made a big difference.
