Insulated Plasterboard on external walls

    I regularly put something like Xtratherm thin R on inside of already insulated cavity wall to give extra insulation to house extensions. Currently I'm applying this to a large house extension with a fireplace.
    The thing I'm not sure about is what to do when I come to the fireplace on the Ground floor and the chimney breast on the 1st floor.
    Should I just insulate as far as the fireplace or around it. My fears are;
    1. If I don't insulate do I risk a cold bridge.
    2. If I do insulate do I create a fire risk as this insulation does burn.

    This or similar is what I use ;

    I think you need 200mm min. blockwork between flue and insulation so you would need to avoid the chimney breast and stack if its a standard construction.

    Just got off phone to Xtratherm and they concur with above.
    I'm thinking cold bridging might not be such a problem as blockwork is so thick, fire may be lit on cold days, and higher spec. insulation is in cavity behind chimney.

    Appreciate quick replies guys and girls.
