No-one can buy take-away drink after 10pm! Now the Government is banning the party pills with "BZP" (in March). What next the fun police will be introduced along with a tax on laughing!? Is it me or is this country getting ridiculous? It's 2008! Oh sorry I better go as it's bedtime and I don't want the government to catch me!

OP i agree 100%, the biggest problem this country has is not being able to buy drink in the shop after 10pm and of course bzp pills, i'm taking them right now and my hairs never had so much control and body.

I'm glad run_to_da_hills hasn't come up with new "ideas" for them. He really is shooting himself in the foot. They're never smart enough to think of such schemes, don't help them.

If you really care that much, why not start an anti nanny state march some time. I'd go along, and i'm sure you'd get other people to aswell...

    well come on....

Thats paying pub prices, no thanks unless your payin....and I mean even the hours of the pubs are lame, it should be up to the publicans if they want to stay open - let them, like alot of other countries. It's so hypocritical we're known around the world for our fondness of a tipple but I am wondering are the gay government trying to change this...???

In other countries, people know their limits when it comes to drinking. Their streets are not packed on Saturday nights with fellas pummeling the crap out of each other and girls vomiting in shop porches.

You know what, i reckon this is because the nanny state closes everything at 3 o clock and its this notion that one has to get their drinking done by this time.
Young people drink too much in general, its not just the irish!
