IC-R3 is about it. Very niche market as there is little Analogue FM Video to receive.

There are maybe 4 FM analogue Repeaters on 1.2GHz in Ireland. Users with licence often use much cheaper G1MFG receiver or an Analogue Satellite receiver with an LNA and aerial instead of LNB.

It's a very very expensive toy for Video. 2.4GHz Wireless Video Senders are indoor with small aerials and less than 100mW. A best with a suitable dish you might pick up a neighbours video sender.

Most professional security cameras are wired or IP, rather than Analogue FM Video. The normal security RF channels are at 1.4GHz, which according to some reviews is blocked on the R3.

You'd be better spending half the money on a Desktop scanner or PC based Scanner. I doubt you would ever get much other than regular TV (now obsolete with DTT starting next year) on the Icom R3

It's poor as a general radio scanner and has no SSB mode.

Was going to get one of those myself a couple years back, decided in the end against it, similar views as to what Watty mentioned.
I went in the end for the IC-R20 - great little receiver.

There is also this receiver available now from AOR...

Pricey though at roughly 2 grand sterling.

If you want to receive broadcasts from Helicopters and the like, there are some DIY projects floating around to do with (I think) homemade S-band receivers.
