iPod Touch Users: Does your wifi sometimes not connect?

I'm posting this thread purely out of curiosity because i've read the complaint quite often where an ipod touch connects to your wifi network, but doesn't actually connect.

I know I have had this happen to me more than once. I've switched the wifi on, it connects to my network but does not show the little wifi signal strength symbol, and then safari or what ever will tell me i'm not connected. Usually simply flicking the wifi off and on again sorts out the problem, but i'm curious to learn how widespread this is. As far as I remember this problem did not occur with the 1.XX firmware.

If people could post info about their touch that'd be cool. Such as:

    32gb ipod touch gen 1 firmware 2.1.1
    32gb ipod touch gen 2 firmware 2.1.1
both used with mac osx 10.5

I've had both the 1st and 2nd generation and both have had the wifi problem since switching to the 2.XX firmware

I have an 8GB Gen 1 with the most recent firmware installed and have never seen this problem . . I do however find that in certain parts of my house the ipod cannot find a signal even when my laptop can . .

Running latest firmware on first-gen 16 GB model. See this very rarely -- usually get the prompt to enter the encryption key although it's right!

I was away over the weekend and this happened again. I connected to a new network, but did not get the wireless icon and couldn't connect so I disconnected and reconnected and it was fine...it's nothing major but is a little annoying.

I was talking to some Apple support people and this is a known issue apparently, should be addressed in the next update.

What encryption type are you all using? WEP has always been a problem.

Have the same issue. I usually have the wifi off but if I turn it on can take ages to get working, even on networks I've used before. Fix I found seems to be to forget the network, and manually re-enter details (or plug it into my PC and get the details from there) but its an annoyance when you want to get on quickly.
