Garmin Forerunner 50 Battery Change

I changed the battery in my forerunner 50 but had difficulty trying to put the clip that holds the battery back in place properly. In the end I just pressed it into place the way I thought it should go and screwed the back on . The watch appeared to work but was dead again within a few hours. Any body have any experience…
