A dear friend of mine is becoming increasingly wary about leaving the house. She's not fearful, she just hates it. Can anyone suggest things I can do to help?

Try getting her to take "baby steps". Try getting her to go into her garden first and then bit by bit get her to expand on that. Agoraphobia can come about for many reasons and can be triggered by many things like changes in the person's life or stress etc.

Therapy can really be very helpful. It is important that your friend tries to identify why she hates going outside and then work on that. Just be supportive and try to get her to take the baby steps. However, counselling is really the best way. Phobias are generally symptoms of other issues.

Don't delay, the longer you leave it the worse it gets. Small issues grow over time.

All we have to fear is fear itself! But the fear itself is considerable! Sorry LadyJ I am not making fun but it is true
