How to remove cistern top from toilet??

    For some reason the toilet isn't filling and I want to remove the back of the toilet that holds the water (technical term obviously) to see what the issue is inside. But the problem is the top wont come off because of the push buttons on the top. There are two buttons but is there a trick to get these off this??

    I have twisted as far as I can the cover for the push buttons but they still wont come out.

    Probably really simple but I have never had to get inside one of these before. :o

    I was trying to get the top of mine off this morning and i couldnt get it off either! i havent a clue how to get it off! :mad:

    The buttons should pull out (Push one down and lift the other out, and then the other) There should be a screw visible then. undo this screw and the lid will lift off.
