It was Surveillance, directed by Jennifer Lynch (David Lynch's daughter). Starring Bill Pullman, Julia Ormonde, and Michael Ironside. And it was utter bollocks.

The only reviews I can find online appear to be written by Lynch fans. they all seemed to like it.

Showed at the Galway Film Fleadh during the summer. Didn't get good word of mouth - even Bill Pullman didn't like it by all accounts.

    Surprise film is always sh1te.

Waste of what could be a great experience for me.

The thing that fvcks me off about it is that every year there's always a quality film knocking about the festivals absent from the horrorthon and you think "yeah it could be on". Last year it was the Orphanage, this year Let the right one in, so your always tempted.

Glad to say I gave it a miss this year and probably wont be bothering again.

Not true. One year it was The Others, which was a genuinely great film and perfect for the surprise film as few had heard of it.

Okay one example of a decent film.....seven years ago. Thats not good enough.

The others is a very good film but it hardly blows you away.

Im not sure how booking films for these things work but I always find it weird that frightfest over in the UK can get certain films 2 or 3 three weeks back yet the horrorthon cant. The Orphanage would've been perfect last year and let the right one in this year.

I think the surprise film is a great concept but if they are going to continue making it stuff that probably only 20% of the audience would be interested in paying for they might as well scrap it....at this stage its getting so it just seems like a cynical attempt to get a packed house for a sh1te film.
