Ever have a forced all nighter?

For me its been with trips to the airport, or college deadlines.
Thing is I really love sleeping, so staying awake when I really need to can be hard. So I'm wondering, how do people keep themselves awake when they HAVE to?
And what are the reasons other people have had for having to stay up all night/go a day or two without sleep?

At the risk of being incredibly predictable - large quantities of caffeine (coffee/energy drinks), while staying up to get college assignments finished.

Ok I am master at this:D

    Cold showers /burgggagg
    it works
The key to staying awake is keeping the heart rate up
Caffeine will do that.Watch a scary movie.
Drink lots of water and let nature take its course.Grapefruit juice.
Don't eat too much ,Don't eat starch and not much sugar. If you have the chance talk to someone else, and listen to rock music.

I don't have to force but I done some of this to stay up on 3rd and 4th days

Cold... Cold drinks, window open. I've often had to drive while very tired, I'd stop for a small walk and a freezing cold can of club orange then drive with the windows down and the radio up

My problem isn't keeping myself awake ... my problem is getting to sleep, and then waking up when I should. :(

I've always found all-nighters incredibly easy ... though my mental state the next day may not be brilliant! :o

I am the same with not going to sleep when I should ,but I do get up when I should.I don't get more than 6 hours sometimes 4 so the no sleeping thing doesn't effect me with all nighters.

    cat naps are brilliant though

I'm ashamed (sort of!) to admit I've never done an all-nighter.......clearly I don't belong here :pac: The one time I really, really tried, I slept for an hour :o

So to answer the thread title, um, I don't :)

Does anyone remember some Big Brother style tv show once where people had to stay awake for days on end?

Something very similar here - I have very little difficulty with staying up until crazy hours of the night, but I find it difficult to get out of the bed in the morning.

Ah I'm a total freek, I can't get to sleep at night at all, and if I do, I wake up about 2 then fall back asleep just before it's time to get up, BUT, if I'm out drinking or whatever, I can't stay awake,

I've got an Airport one coming next weekend.

Flight from Edinburgh to Luton gets us in a 6pm on Saturday, flight from Luton to Bucharest leaves at 6AM sunday.

Were planning on heading for Luton, go to the cinema, couple of beers after that...who knows!

My bodyclock is pretty permanently messed up so as a result I have no problem staying alert at 3 or 4 in the morning but by noon its a different story altogether - caffeine life support anyone? :pac:

Drinking massive amounts of herbal tea so you have to pee every ten minutes is helpful...til you start to lose it and think you're preggers or something.

Randy speaks the truth. It's not as effective as sex but definitely helps sleep.
