Found today little male terrier type dog. Wearing a colourful fabric collar but no ID on it. Dog is not chipped but the nurse reckons he is neutered.

This little chap is in a vets in Tallaght area who are keeping him over night but they will have to phone the SDCC pound tomorrow lunchtime if he is not claimed.

    Friendly but nervous little fella.

    Pictures attached.

I can be contacted @ 0857245900 or email clofty@gmail.com for further details.

Unfortunately I was not able to take him in as I live in Monasterevin in Kildare and have 2 cats who would not take too kindly to him!

If anyone knows who owns him / has any suggestions as to what else I can do to keep him away from the pound please let me know.

    Cathy x

SDCC dogs go to Dunboyne. A group called Dunboyne Dogs are a voluntary group which try to get dogs out of the pound and into rescue spaces. If you join www.petsireland.invisionzone.com you will be able to contact Dunboyne Dogs on there and tell them about this dog. In his favour, he is cute and small looking and they tend to get homed from the pound.

Alternatively, there are lots of rescue groups on the above site and they may be able to help. Get posting on there asap.

    Thanks Vel.

Have registered with www.petsireland.invisionzone.com and am waiting on permission to post.

    Have also posted on
    topdog.ie
    irishanimals.ie
    DSPCA - email sent
    ISPCA - email sent

Can't think of any other sites. I am feeling a bit guilty now for handing him into the vets but on the spot I could not think of anything else to do at that moment.

Fingers crossed for some sort of result.

good luck with the dog, could you foster him maybe? if you get in contact with dunboyne dogs they could help you out with fostering him and you could also maybe pay the release fee for him. hopefully there is somebody looking for him, it's obvious someone must have owned him if he's been neutered. good luck! :)

    Thanks Egar.

Don't suppose anyone on boards.ie is heading to Galway at the weekend?

I would not be a confident enough driver for the trip.

If not, will try work something out.

If the dog isn't going to the pound, please contact them to let them know that you have the dog in case his owner is looking for him. Also place an ad on www.lostandfound.ie and on http://petsireland.invisionzone.com

    Thanks Kazza.

Vet still has him at the moment. Think they are keeping him till lunchtime.

Posted a found ad on lostandfound.ie but it's not up yet. Also I'm waiting on approval from administrators of petsireland before I can post.

Nothing much else I can really do in the meantime.

    Quick update.

Vets have just phoned to say that they need to phone the dog warden. I phoned Dunboyne pound to enquire about their PTS policy and they assured me that unless the dog is vicious and cannot be re-homed it will not be PTS.

So this little dog is heading to Dunboyne pound today.

If you think this may be your dog / you know who it belongs to, please phone Dunboyne Pound @ 01 8026676 or Old Bawn Vets @ 01 4140830.

I will check in with the pound in a couple of days again.
