AEG conversion to Real Firearm

Heres a good one for you...

Recently my mate organised us to go paintballing for his birthday, although i didnt really want to go he is my friend so you know how it is...

anyway i get there and one of the lads told the paintball people i play airsoft, they actually tried to convince me that you can convert an AEG into a .223( 5.56mm) caliber weapon that works consistently...one of them, then told me he did it in school??? like WTF? I actually have a rifle so i know my way around a firearm, so i asked how did he do it, he said he simply took out the ''upper hopspin'' and put in a firing mechenism of a .223 rifle and it still works..i proceeded to laugh in his face and call him insane...i explained to him even the best, metal AEG would have its frame disintegrate upon firing a round, then i explained how the whole reciever has the motor etc inside it and how did he fit in a rifle mechanism, do you know what his answer was, he said he took out everything from the AEG, threw those out, he then said he manufacture a very strong steel frame and put in the rifle parts...i replied, '' so, basically you dis-assembled the AEG, threw everything out, made a frame from steel, inserted rifle mechanisms, and it still works? so why did you waste youre time taking an AEG apart when you just threw it all out and made a custom rifle and didnt use one part of the AEG? how is this a conversion??

His reply was with a proud grin, ''ah but i did use something lad, i made it the same design as an M4 pellet gun!''

I said, ''isnt that using the design of an M4 and not a BBgun?''

He then said that i could not accept the fact that he did it and shouted GAME OOOOOOON!!

The reason i didnt take that smirk off his face with a left hook, was i pittied his intellegence and found it quite funny at how much sh*t he spoke...

ps, he also has a semi auto shotgun that holds 24 shells and he is liscensed with it, even though the legal limit is 4 or 7:cool:

Erm... Yea

Converting an AEG to fire a live round is not possible. It'd be easier to build a whole rifle from scratch, which by the sound of it is what this guy claims to have done. I say claims because I dont believe a word of it and honestly think he is full of sh!t

is this his logic :

I made a gun once from metal, therefore you can convert metal into firearms, therefore metal should be outlawed.

not only that i put it in a toy gun, so all toy guns should be banned.


conversion means make minor alteratiosn to change the gun, like different motor or a mosfet or whatever. he's basically using the frame... plus he's a tit for doing it.

apparently, i say again apparently, he used his superiour mechanical skills to make a steel m4 frame and put firing mechanisms inside, this is copying an m4 not a BBgun...

aegs can not be converted to fire real ammunition and its that simple, know if someone wants to copy designs of a real firearms and manufacture and illegal firearms that is a different topic and not for this forums, but has nothing to do with airsoft.

i think this is your first idea that the story is kind of rubbish, this would be your first clue if your completely void of any intelligence and common sense in the area of physics

it was ridiculous though i was laughing at him the whole way through his rant...just shows how some people really are uneducated towards this sport
