Computer displays - glossy vs. matte

Going to buy a new laptop soon, primarily for on the go photo stuff. I'm a bit wary of glossy screens, and given the new Macbook pros have them, I'm a bit wary of them. So what's the verdict on matte vs. glossy?

glossy is nice and crips but its a bloody pain in certain types of light....can make it very hard to see the screen
