Hopefully, I posted this in the right category - apologies if not.

I am looking to buy a TV for an apartment, it should be roughly 28-32" inch as its a small living room.

I was just wondering is there any good recommendations out there from anyone who knows about this stuff. For example,

Is Full HD worth the extra money over HR Ready?
Does it make any difference if you are watching through NTL(not HD)
Does the 1080 or 720 thing make a big difference?
Are any makes much preferable then others? Phillips for example.
Is that ambi/backlight thing on Phillips any use other than decoration?

Sorry if these seem a bit stupid but I honestly haven't a rashers when it comes to these things.

    Hoping you can help. :)

This should answer most of your questions.

IMO the philips ambi/backlight thing is the biggest gimmick i've seen on a TV in years. Watching an ambi panel drives me mad and is such a distraction from what you should be looking at.. the screen. Don't know about anybody else
