Drumcondra to Baggot Street

Would anyone be able to tell me the quickest way to get to the Clanwilliam Place/Baggot Street area from Drumcondra? For the last few days I've been getting a train to Connolly and switching to the DART to Grand Canal Dock, which would be handy except for the fact the trains are a total joke, arriving early/really late so you can be waiting 15 mins for the first train and another 15 mins for the DART. Is there an easier way without making too many changes?

Cycling is the easiest option if you fancy it. It's less than a 20 minute cycle if you take it easy (with the bonus that it's all downhill in the mornings!).

Alternatively, get any bus to Parnell Sq East and then change onto a 10 which will bring you to Baggot St. They're fairly regular in the mornings, you shouldn't be waiting more than 5-10 minutes for one.

Cycle it. It's not even 4 miles, you've be there in twenty minutes.

    Or the 140 from Phibsboro.

If you're near the Phibsboro end of Drumcondra, you can get the 10 bus on North Circular Rd. During peak times it leaves every 10 minutes and goes to Baggot St.

Otherwise your best bet would be to get the 11/11a/11b (leaves every 20-25 mins) to Lower Leeson St and walk straight down by the canal to Clanwilliam Place.

Both would be a better option than the train.

In fairness Jovanni Calm Schoolteacher, are you looking for a limosine service to bring you where you need to go.

What do you expect, to get on at your nearest train station and interconnect with another train to bring you where you want to go? Where do you think you live, a first world european country?? :D

  • I don't have a bike, and I'd be doing this early afternoon and late at night so not keen on too much walking at night. That also means I'd be waiting longer for buses, but bus seems to be the best option! I do live at the Phibsboro end of Drumcondra so I'll try getting the 10 from N Circular Road, sounds like the easiest way of doing it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Bear in mind that the 10 stops at either North Circular Road in Phibsboro, and then routes via Berkley Road and Berkley Street and Blessington Street and does NOT serve Dorset Street. It then routes via Baggot Street.

The 13/13a will take you directly to Merrion Square from where you can walk to Clanwilliam Place.

The 11/A/B will leave you to Leeson Street Bridge (allow about 10-15 mins for the bus to get from Wadelai Park terminus to Drumcondra Station).

Finally the 4 and 4A route via Phibsboro Road, Western Way, Blessington Street and Parnell Square to Mount Street.

Dublin Bus site says it stops at 'St Peter's Church' which looks to be about 10 mins walk from my house, and drops off at Baggot Street Bridge. Would anyone know what the N Circular Road/Phibsboro area is like at night?
