Someone about three weeks ago scraped a key along the rear quarter panel outside my house. Its about two foot of a scrape  won't be a touch up as its down to metal, guess I'll have to get the car resprayed for next summer. could do without that. Anyone else have that happen?

My car got keyed along the whole lenght tip to tail down to the primer.

I have fixed stone chips before with the following method. use a paper hole punch on fine sandpaper.
glue the circle to a wooden dowel ( With the end rounded) and spin between hands on the stone chip. this creates a even crater in the paint. fill with layers of code paint from a needle. it Takes time. When it's level with the surface Use a compound to finish it. The result can be a little varied, but with practice a good finish can be achieved.

If someone has an idea to repair a key job without respraying the panel I would love to hear it. Not looking at anyone,,, Stix ?

Well ok its more or less the same as ya done before but there is a tool you can get called a nib.
It is about the size of a fountain pen.
When you twist it. out of it comes fine strands of fiberglass and use this.
To get in between the keyed part then build up with rust proof 1st if down to metal.
Then the primer then the paint i have found that a plastic toothpick works better than a wooden one. Then compound;)

Have you ever heard of the Quixx Scratch system - its a two part polish but its the only one that will actually remove the scratch instead of filling it in with polish

    and

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXBnIEsfW_4&feature=related

its intended to be used after getting the 3 piece paint repair kits - what you can get in halfords

I know where you can get it cheap on ebay

I have an older Escort that needed a lot of work - some scratches and dings where down to the metal

the only thing about those paint repair kits - you need to make sure hasn't been finished in cellulose or a Polyurethane - those kits are Acrylic based so they''ll eat thru it
