    Hi All,

    A quick question for you?

I love taking night shots and particularly city scenes. How do you get rid of the orange glow from street lights? I custom white balance my camera with a grey white balance card but still my photos are coming out all orange! There is a graveyard scene where I live that I have been trying to take night shots of. A lot of the new graves have lights on them in different colours but the orange glow masks the colours and it never comes out like it is in reality! Any advice would be appreciated.

The colour cast is because of the light tubes (Na light bulbs) used in the street lamps. They don't have full spectrum of colours, therefore there are few major peaks in frequencies. Eye and brain are stoopid - they just calibrate themselves to think that what you see is white, although it is orange.

The best I could think about is shooting RAW and trying different colour balance settings in some of the RAW processors. Or converting into BW.
