Hi all, hope this is the right section to post this.

Looking to purchase a Digital Photo Frame for my SIL for Christmas, and at the moment I'm gone googly eyed  trying to work out what is what.

My budget is up to €100 but of course the cheaper the better ;)

Would sincerely appreciate all opinions as i have no idea what even all the jargon means, many thanks.

Make sure it has basic things such as an ON,OFF switch for example.
I have a photo frame and the only way to turn it off is to plug it out.

Other than that, decide on the size/resolution you want then go from
    there.

I have the Philips 7FF1 seven inch picture frame and am very pleased with the quality, two family members also bought these having seen mine. It has a high pixel density which gives very clear images. The problem with the cheaper frames is their low pixel density which gives grainy images, you get what you pay for. Seven inch is a good size, not too obtrusive.

Appreciate the feedback, will have a look at the Philips and would have though on/off switch would have been standard so thanks for that tip;)

I just saw this post on Engadget which is asking the same question (although they're looking for WiFi and RSS/Flickr support too). The 9" Sony model seems to be coming out well...
