So very close to buying a new (its uk reg) so I said I would check cartell for history. Entered in the reg and nothing came up? It kinda worries me, but the owner said he has a record of service history etc. from previous years up to now.

Is it fishy that it isnt on cartell or is that common with Uk reg'd cars?

From other threads I believe that it's not 100% accurate.

Just tried a couple of english reg cars i owned and they only worked when letters in reg were in capitals

    update, I tried it again.

^It did the opposite for me, decided not to do capitals and it came up.

Also one more thing, on the vrt website it says 211co2 emisions on cartell its 160. Would I have to prove that to get the lower price on vrt?

Cartell is excellent for both Irish and UK checks. I was almost stung with a car already brought in and registered here I even gave a deposit on it but when I ran a cartell check on it I found out that not only was it written off in the UK but there were another two owners on it!
Make sure you get a full histoy check on ALL UK IMPORTS!

You would need to ask the seller what co2 emisions are on the registration certificate. They usually go by that. I would assume CarTell use the registration details for the actual car. WOrth checking as it would make a big difference to the cost. What is the car make model year and engine?

If the car is still on UK plates then get the chassis number as well as the UK reg, compare this information with that on the registration documents and then get a HPI check done by a UK HPI company to verify mileage, service history, etc.

    Here are a few:

    http://www.hpicheck.com/newfrontend/
    http://www.checkthatcar.com/
    http://www.netcar.co.uk/
    http://www.cardatachecks.co.uk/
    http://www.autocheck.co.uk/hpi-car-check-history.html

Have no experience of any of them but I'm sure there are boardies here who have experience getting cars checked in the UK.
