CAMSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR

    got my car checked and these faults came up

    p0340 camshaft positioning sensor
    p1000 self routine
    p1270 rpm limiter
    p1479

    any ideas what price a positioning sensor is.what fault should be happening the car if this sensor is gone

    The cam sensor is faulty or the wiring to it is or it is disconnected. It'll be on the side of your engine's cylinder head and without it your engine will be running poorly and the ECU may be running it on some kind of "limp home" mode.

    The rpm limiter error and the rest may all be linked to the faulty cam sensor.

    They can be quite expensive (like a few hundred quid) which IMO is a rip off because at the end of the day they are just magnets attached to a wire. Depending on what your car is you might do well to look for one second hand or in a scrapyard.

    Before you do anything else, clear the fault codes and see if they occur again.
