Hi! I am buying my first Ipod this week and need some help. I know nothing about Ipod's. I just know I saw the commercials with the 2nd Gen and the games and I want one. I have read a bit about there is not much difference in the 1st gen and 2 gen. Do either one come with the games already, or you have to buy? Also, what is this jailbreaking? I saw it unlocks stuff, but not sure what exactly. Can someone please explain all this to me so I can make the right decision? I'm not into the music part all that much, mainly just want the games.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen

Thanks so much for your quick reply. It wouldn't be just for games, but thats the main part. I also really need a calendar I can carry, and I do need the internet. From what I have been reading there is not much difference between the first and second generation. I think I might just go with the first gen.
I'm still not sure on the jailbreak thing, but it does sound very complicated.

the ipod touch 32g 2nd gen is the best portable media player. if you were to buy one then i would recommend the touch.
the only difference between the 1st and 2nd gen are yhe extra modules i.e. games, you tube, phone book and calender.
they are a bit expensive but worth the money..

So if I go with the first gen am I to assume it does not have calendar, or phone book? I've found a website with alot of free games (I think it just takes you straight to the Apple store0, so I'm not worried about that, but I do need a calendar too....
Also, do I have to have WiFi to download games? Can I download them on my computer and transfer them?

You can get mail and all them apps on the first gen with a firmware update costing around 10 euro.
Those have all been shipping with first gen iPod Touchs since January.

Going from 1.1.x to 2.0 will be a paid update, but all subsequent 2.x updates are free. Second generation iPod Touchs are all 2.0 or higher.
