    Anyone else hear that stuff on the news about WIT student's parties getting out of control??
    Non-WIT residents have reported "criminal behaviour" and parties going on til 5am.

    If anything thats insulting WIT and one of the factors preventing us from obtaining University status. What about those protesters last week?
    Come on, lads. Tone it down a bit?

    Whats your opinion?

    Its outside college grounds so the college cant do anything about it unless the students are convicted of a criminal offense. They are also private houses rather then college provided. Its up to the landlord to dish out any evictions or the guards to hand out fines, arrest people or break up partys.

    I do feel sorry for the residents, but complaining to the college wont achieve anything. Nor will it affect University Status :p

    Sorry to burst your bubble here but a Labour councilor told me recently at a wedding that W.I.T will not get university status. He said he is involved in FUSE but knows that it won’t be achieved. Research and lectures facilities are not upto the required requirements.

    Wonder will Martin Cullen be around the day this news is released to the Media :rolleyes

    Never once said WIT will definitely get it. Iv been criticised for being more negative about WIT getting it if anything.

    As for that Labour chap - don't believe a word of it. A lot of political party's and representatives, including FF, have said we are at the required standard. That includes folks in FUSE.

    The antics outside of the college grounds will not affect any decision making. So, sorry if I just burst your own bubble :p

    Have to agree with Sully there.Wouldn't listen to any of the politicians in general with to making promises either way.Also I do really fail to see how the activities of any students off campus could actually have any impact on the status.As well, I don't see what the staff of wit could do about what ever students get up to outside of college, they're adults after all and wit aren't their baby sitters.If they did try and do something about it, I'm sure the same people saying that they should would probably blast them for sticking their nose in.Its a no win situaton for them and as well I'm sure that the problems in Templars hall aren't just localised to students.

    I'm sure that in every third level area in the country there's the same problems when students and families are living in the same area. Templars Hall is just the one we here about most

    Will ye lot ever give over(aimed at anti-templers hall copntingency). Seriously it's gettting really old now and really fcuk1ng quick too. I've been living there for two years now and i can guarantee you that last year was a hell of a lot worse than this year. How about someone from templers come on here and have a pair to say something because as it stands its just a bunch of bored a55holes coming on here bull5h1tt1ng on about how we blame templers hall for this and that and how templers hall is going to stop wit getting university status. So a non college owned nor funded housing estate is going to prevent university status grow up if that was the case there would be no god damn universities in dublin with the likes of ballymun, fatima and other places lurking about. Can all you anti templers a55holes just get a life, seriously did ye miss out on a spot in there or something. I'm not saying it's a safe haven of an estate but it is nowhere as bad as it used to be in previous years. Cop on like that estate is not holding back wit's push for university status its much more like in the the sub-adequate comditions that we all get educated in everyday. The quality just isn't there and i'm not going to take this thread further off topic by going into it it was discussed in the Waterford City forum before so go look up the WIT UNIVERSITY thread. Fact of the matter is a realisation and bursting of a bubble that shouldnt have been there in the first place has occured and now everyone has taken off there WIT tinted glasses and realise that the instiutution is just no-where near the expected standard to be graded university status. Simple as. Put the blame on the administration of the college not the students who happen to live in templers.Seriously like that estate is not to blame as damn hell you all know it. Stop trying to justify WIT'S almost certain to be failed attempt at getting university status. The estate has problems between families and students that is normal and certainly isn't the norm in templers they are isolated incidences. As ec18 said this happens in every estate in ireland and templers just happens to be the whipping horse for Waterford. Get over yourselves really. Blaming templers on WIT not going to get university status grow the hell up.

    /*Rant over

    iv been living in Templars hall for two years.. regarding the facebook page set up by one resident i think it complete and utter childishness... i have never once in the two years been woken up or couldnt sleep because of noise. the only noise pollution i get here is from kids out on my garden during the days which i never once complained about... these residents on this page are supposed to be adults yet saying baseball bats and balaclavas are the only answer for students, this is not a very grown up approach. also residents have said on this page that people renting in this estate are the problem is awful.. did ye all never rent a house??? granted there are students that are causing trouble i dont think making threatening remarks to them are gonna help.. the author of the facebook page also claimed that students are all supported by mammy and daddy.. im currently working two jobs to support my college edu. and run a house... if you are adults then behave like it....dont start making threating remarks behind words on facebook... visit the houses at a socialable hour and talk....
