Anyone been to Thailand in November?

    Hi all,

I'm new to the travel forum so hope you don't mind me picking your brains on Thailand. Heading there in November from 20th Nov till 30th, and meeting up with two friends when I get there who will arrive a week earlier, and plan to do Bangkok and North Thailand before I arrive. The plan then is to move south somewhere......

I will spend first two nights in Bangkok, but can't make up my mind what to do for the following week when we meet up. My two mates want to go diving and are told that Ko Tao, Ko Phengan are the best places to go, so we were thinking there. However another friend of mine who has been in Thailand had reservations about that plan as the east coast islands are in Monsoon season around then and he thinks that there will be very few tourists there and that it will be v difficult to get around.

So that really leaves the west coast, which I'm told will also be wet in November but not as bad as the east coast

In an ideal world we'd like to spend a week somewhere with nice beaches, that won't be raining all the time, that possibly has somewhere to go diving and that won't involve too much travelling around given the short time we have. Can anyone advice on the best course of action given the thai weather in late November? Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I've been to Thailand two years ago in November, the weather was great, I was on Koh Chang which is in the Bay of Thailand near Cambodia, its a nice island, pretty developed, not to the extent of Phuket or Koh Samui.
I also went down to Ao Nang which is near Krabi and Ko Phi Phi, which is also a beautiful place, it was hit by the Tsunami, but there isn't much of a trace of that anymore, except for the Coral which you will see if you go Snorkeling.
Koh Samui is very accessible from Bangkok, Bangkok Airways fly there and Air Asia fly to Krabi (Ao Nang/Koh Phi Phi), beware of Air Asia though as they are similar to Ryanair, 15Kg bag limit and penalty is severe, so just make sure you put your bulk items into your carry on luggage.

Was thinking of going back there again this month but decided to go to Mexico instead.

Ko Chang would probably be the driest island to go at this time of year to but it'd be a pity to miss out on the Southern Islands.

I spent last November in north Thailand and it was very dry but I'm not sure exactly how wet it can get on either the east or west coast this time of year.

^ Travelfish's weather map will give you an idea on the amount of rainfall in each area you're interested in going to.

i was in thailand from 16th november for about 3 weeks last yr and the weather was savage throughout, was in koh phanghan and phi phi, recommended (phanghan for the full moon, phi phi to chill out/dive, although some other islands are better for diving apparently but phi phi is pretty good too)
