PC not reading WiFi usb connector

Hi, so I'm trying to install the USB WiFi connector but my pc won't read it or whatever. My mouse is USB and when I plug and replug, I hear a sound but nothing for the Wi-Fi one. What is wrong/what can I do?

what operating system are you using? Vista ?
Try downloading the latest drivers.

Norton Antivirus used to block mine so switch that off and try
