Im about to write a report on the BB situation in Ireland (Coverage, Cost etc) and part of my report is to look into possible future development and any upcoming technologies that could improve the situation.

I assuming the role out of Wimax might be an option, but what else???

If only the LLU was at most exchanges, they really ferked that up.

WiMax is overhyped. It just saves a little money & a little extra capacity on new 3.6GHz Fixed Wireless. Not much better than 3G/HSDPA and no Irish Spectrum for Mobile WiMax.

LLU is too expensive: Line Rental, Rack rental, Space rental, Connection cost, Access charges, Electricity, Backhaul etc.. Only Eircom makes money out of it.

Most of the "coverage" and "speeds" offically published are almost Lies. Search for "Sponge Bob"'s posts.
