618k miles is nearly a million kilometers. I was in a merc taxi recently with nearly a million kilometers on the clock in the Canaries. It's almost funny that many taxi drivers in this country choose a piece of misery like a Carina / Avensis and spend all their time sitting in it. I'd rather stick a sharp needle into my eyes than do that

and it is also a taxi. he has owned it since 1996 and it really does not look to have such high milage on it, even the drivers seat bolster is not torn

A slovakian guy i worked with had a 1996 2 litre diesel ex taxi almera with 467.000 miles up,it was a "little worse for wear" though.He wound the clock back to 167.000 and sold it on to some polish lad.

These were built to last, not like todays throwaway rubbish.

Same as Unkel, I was in a w123 model taxi in Morrocco. The odo had 550+ K miles on it.
The taxi driver then told me the odo had packed up about 3 years before this.!!!
