If you do CA you can change to EC.
the only difference so far is EC have a choice between computer programming one and digital world. If they go and do digital world they wont be bale to later join CA if they wish to transfer.

So go read up on those 2 modules :D

    He's right. :)

    I'm a 1st year CA. Great fun.

    Hard course though.

Do CA if you like programming.
Do EC if you want to go into business computing.

I can tell you now that if you go into CA, there is around a 55 percent chance you will regret it. Gets stupidly hard. Most of the course drops out before the end of the year. Those who stay on are the ones who grasped programming, which is very hard to do.

    Im switching to EC. :P

    Curious - what's EC? :)

It means enterprise computering. I think I will avoid CA..It's infamous for people dropping out. My mate done this course and said it's ridculously hard but, the rewards are good and then I know others who dropped out...

OP look into programming and see does it tickle your fancy if not, avoid like the plague.

Its worth emphasising the point so far. In semester 2 they are a bit more different and in years 2-4 they are radically different.

There will be programming in 2nd year EC, so just doing EC to avoid programming is not the best way to decide your course.

I found the maths the hardest thing in CA, failed it and passed everythign else :'( , so far I'm finding the maths in EC slighty easier, not sure if it's starting to stick in the old noggin or if IT Mathematics is a nerfed version of CA's Maths module though.

Small point. Both CA and EC do the same maths modules, but is is a new one.

robby^5 makes a good point, there is still programming in EC in later years, but much much less than CA. So if computing is for you, but programming is not then EC may be the better option.

What type of maths is it in CA and EC robby?, I'm thinking of doing EC next year?

Pretty much higher level maths, for those of us who did ordinary level it's a bit of a shock :(

As for EC, we're only a few weeks in so come back to me in the summer and I'll let you know how hard it was! But so far so good for me anyway.

Ah feck, I'm doing ordinary myself and I ain't very good at it either!
