after doing some freesat installs ive come across a few issues with the Grundig freesat receiver. Hopefully someone out there can enlighten me on some aspects to this sat box .
1/ After doing the first time install ive found the receiver upgrade seems to have a mind of its own ,the upgrade needs to happen to allow the tv guide to work properly and to allow the non freesat channels to be added, most times this upgrade kicks in quick enough but sometimes even after a day the upgrade still has'nt kicked in.
2/ when the guide button is pressed ,all channels appears on the centre screen but not the genre list does not appear
3/ the upgrade option can be done automatically or manually ,but when you switch to manually, nothing happens
4/If channel 5 or rte international come on board are they going to automatically come on to the tv guide or will they have to be manually upgraded.
5/ Anybody no if there is a universal remote control for the Grundig sd receiver that can work most tv's as well

The new channels should automatically appear but I had trouble with Channel 4 when it switched to 104. My epg did not update auto and so had to do a first time install which then froze the box until I unplugged the mains ! Seems like a bug to me. The boxes where suppose to have quite a few at launch.

yea , anybody who used a north of ireland post code before ch4 was switched to 104 have to do the install again ,that happened to me to.Still dont see how the manual upgrade works ,nothing seems to happen when its switched on . I think some boxes take longer for the upgrades to work than others

There is a Grundig box thread on one of the UK sites with a bug report list and a features wishlist that you can contribute to. Its being run by someone who says he knows the guys responsible for the ongoing development of the software.

    See

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=816046

I have not experienced the problems described in the op.

So far the main / only bug I can see is a failure of the EPG to list some programme contents. Programme info sometime appears as "No Information available"

However, oversights or spec limitations imposed by freesat are responsible for a number of features that are absent.

    e.g.
    1. No "now and next" info for non-freesat channels is displayed
    2. Tedious (they are taking the p*ss) process for adding non freesat channels
    3. Tedious process for deleting unwanted non freesat channels
    4. No way to reorder or bring any sensible order to the non freesat channel list (particularly annoying as non freesat radio and non freesat tv channels end up mixed randomly in a single non freesat menu structure)
    5. Favourites list allows freesat channels only (but this is to be expected I suppose)

Also I think I read somewhere that some users were reporting that the EPG becomes corrupted if you access it while viewing a non freesat channel.

Hopefully some of these issues will be resolved in next upgrade.
