Just wondering is there any way of getting HD Channels without going via Sky, I am a Complete HD movie Buff, and been looking at the Listing of Canal + HD FILM, is it possible to get the likes over here?

I am no expert but considering you had a big enough dish then I cannot see why you cant pick up french satellite. Sky can be picked up over most of western europe off the astra sats with a large enough dish. Look here http://www.freesat.ie/index.php?cat=French_Free-to-air_satellite_television&ActinicSID=05312d363c8154239361607e79371fb5

It is possible. All you need is a 80cm dish pointed at 19.2E on Astra1 and most of all a subscription to Canal+(which implies a french bank account, or buying a overpriced card from a retailer). All of their films/series are broadcasted in English and french. It's a bit pricey but not as much as Sky, and the selection of films is pretty good.
I'm french, I miss Canal+ a lot, but the route to get is too troublesome and costly IMHO.
