Using Webcam as CCTV/Security

    Hello forum,

my family have had some problems recently with theft so I said that I would look into setting up some sort of security cameras outside.

I think I need 1 camera to cover the front of the house outside and another camera to cover a shed 35 metres away. I have access to electricty but no mobile phone coverage and no brodband.

Ive looked at some professional kits which include cameras and digital recorders but they seem expensive. I cannot seem to get anything under €250 which is probably my budget.

Is it possible to set up a webcam and old PC that I have as a cheap security system? I want to use the security system for 10 days, only during the day and for 10 days so I could switch it on in the morning and go away from the house until the night. Then when I come back I could review the recorded videos of the day's footage. Is it possibel to do this with a webcam? Any advice appreciated.
