Way out west... there was a fella.... fella went by the name Michael O Leary.... at least that was the handel his loving' parents gave him, he never had much use for it himself... O'Leary went by the name the Dude.... Dude.... now there's a name no-one should ever self apply where I come from.... Now this ere' dude spoke of Shannon.... They call shannon the city of the airport, but ah wouldn't label it that mahself....

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

He has a point so he does

Ryanair are doing great around the world, and although they are probably reporting close to losses at the moment.....if any airline is going to survive it's going to be them. During these times, people are going to go for the cheapest airlines.

And the Irish Government is stupid if they think Ryanair is going to continue their full services here out of Irish loyalty if people are going to be put off flying because of the €10 tax levy. You just have to see the other day in Vienna (I think..?) where Ryanair announced the closure of its base there because it wasn't getting enough co-operation from the local Government there....even though it only opened the base there just over a year ago

I would pay money to see Michael O'Leary take a press conference referring to himself as 'the Dude', or maybe His Dudeness, or Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

And considering there's the potential for profit, he'd probably do it.

It was Valcencai in Spain. Nearly 700 jobs gone, just because the local authority wouldn't play ball by his rules.

The Shannon Tax in the budget (cause thats what it is) has really be swept under the rug, by the debacle of the medical card and income levy.
It seems theres an agenda in the irish aviation authority to run Shannon into the ground. O'Leary should build his own airport in the West. It wouldn't be pretty but it'd be well run.

The amount of customers he gets speaks for itself

    hah fair point

I have a huge amount of respect for Michael O'Leary and what he stands for. Not so much capitalism, but competition

    "...Tumbleweed at Shannon..."

If that was the case there would also be tumbleweed in the Dail for the amount of time that all our politicians are there!

Back to Shannon. It will indeed be hardest on the west now that there is many a cut back.
Transport charging will be hit hard in that direction if Shannon is to surive. Items will get costly all over.
