I am a very methodical person always have been but last night it was suggested by my significant other and a friend (two seperate occurrences )that I might have OCD over the way I react or behave sometimes.

Being honest I know myself if things are not a certain way I feel uncomfortable but I have always been this way. I am obsessive with tidiness, being punctual and things in the right place and certain way ..

I dont know exactly what I'm saying but i just need to say it somehow, the fact it was said by two different people has set me thinking

    Comments appreciated

We all have our little habits and things that make us 'us'.
I'm not sure in what context exactly your friends mentioned it but likely they meant it as a half-joke, it's a type of comment that people say to each other a bit without meaning it.

Anyway, most important thing is that it hasn't bothered you and it's not interfering with your life. If you were obsessive/compulsive to the point that it was causing you distress or affecting your work/social activities significantly, then that would be more concerning (and in fact necessary to go anywhere near a diagnosis really).

So take it easy, try let the comments pass.
Hell, I like to arrange my CDs by colour and a friend of mine only sets his alarm on odd numbered minutes....

    We all have things

I cannot leave the gaff for work in the mornings without checking the windows, and that everything is plugged out. Oh, and checking the front door is locked. I do it 4-5 times and do a complete route of the house every time. Takes me aaaaaages!

Even if I'm 10 minutes down the road I sometimes walk all the way back to check :o

Relax OP, many people do similar things.
It's only a problem once it starts negativly affecting your life. You know, like scrubbing your hands causing damage to get rid of germs as a well known example. I'm talking several times per hour

If youve been ok with how you behave up until now, then the only problem is that other people have labelled you, and made you worry. If thats the case just see it as an opinion which you can take or leave.

However if you are troubled by how you behave, or if its interfering with the normal operation of life, (as with the handwashing already mentioned) if routines and repetitive habits are disrupting your life, then it is time to do something about it.

Its up to you, really, if you feel its a problem. Dont put too much store in what others say.

My CD collection is in immaculate Alphabetic order.

The climate control in my car is never on an odd number, EVER !

I will not use public toilets. Ever....

I havent got OCD..... I just have a preference and a routine.

Your not alone and we are all Monica's in our own little ways...
