Flying to Philly in a couple of weeks and was wondering has anyone gone Usairways from dublin. They fly direct and have had mixed reports about them. Does the Philidelphia flight clear immigration here or over there?

    Anyones experiences are very welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

If you're flying out of Dublin you clear immigration in Philly. Ive flown US AIR once. Wont do it again.

Flew with them from SNN to Orlando recently. The food was c<@p but its like that on all airways now. When coming home left Orlando 10pm Irish time changed at philly and landed SNN at 8am, othing wrong with that. They are changing there flight times next year to 11.30am departure from IRL so will arrive at final destination a little earlier than usual. I will be using them again.

Back in February, when I booked the trip, I got four people direct from Dublin to Philly, out wednesday - back sunday night, for 1700 euro. Thats all in. I know I can go via LHR and travel nice BA 777 but the pain in the ass is the transfer and security again.

I dont mind the ryanair style for the handyness and direct flight, but am interested in others observations.

Since you seem to know, I'm flying Dublin-Boston-Las Vegas. Any idea where I clear immgiration? I think LV but my travel companion is sure it's Dublin. Sorry for thread hijack!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to answer that without boards ie inc having a panic attack about litigation.

But I will say I was travelling with an infant which makes things more complex. If by myself, then I could tolerate it.

Dublin doesn't have an immigration desk anymore. You will clear it in either Boston ot LV, my guess would be Boston.

Yes, it does. Not all flights use it, due to limited space, and some departing after the staff finish, but it's very much there.

And if you do not pre-clear in Dublin, you clear at your first point of entry into the USA

Please make sure information you post here is correct, thanks :)

So so wrong. Please get your facts straight before jumping into a discussion about relatively important issues for travellers to the US.

US Immigration is alive and well in Dublin Airport, some flights clear here, others don't. I worked there for a while checking forms etc and there was no quick and easy rule. If in doubt, consult the airline.

Ok sorry about that. I was repeating what I was told by Dublin airport when I flew last August. I guess they were mistaken.

Like a few of the previous posters, I have flown US Air Shannon to Orlando via Philly twice and both times I have had no complaints. All the flights were on time, the food wasn't great, but hey what airline food is? The staff are nice, the seats are quite comfortable and Philly is a handy airport to get around. We have always cleared immigration in Shannon, but i'm afraid I don't know about Dublin. US Airways market themselves as a budget airline, if you fly with this in mind, you will be fine. The don't have seat back tv's which is a pity, but my attitude is to book whatever airline is cheapest and most convenient. I can cope for a few hours without a seatback TV and silver service if it's saving me a few quid.:)
