I don't think that was really Obama.

If it was he would have said "yo" to remind us all how black he is.

Obama has the coolest name of any world leader and as such can do whatever he likes. I for one welcome our new Obama overlord.

dont forget how working class he is,and then his wife would come along about how working class she is and all the blacks of the world, cos every successful black man has to drag himself through the ghetto to get where they are now

    Obama 08

    McCain is worse

Obama is realistic, that's all. Considering he only recently paid off his student loan I'd trust him more than McCain who couldn't even remember how many houses he has

    Like Mugabe?

Is this turning into a thread about black/working class Obama is? I think it's been done.

Considering the Americans can't spell its only a matter of time till Obama is on America's Most Wanted instead of Osama. It'll all sort itself out in the end

I can't find the quote anywhere and i don't see your source. Is it made up?

That aside, i can't even work out from your spurious quote how we should reach the conclusion that anyone is being annexed here ?

Thats cos what black people make up 11% of the electorate ? I would be interested in seeing the source of the original quote too - it sounds too ridiculous to be true imo.

Balderdash quote created by McCain propaganda machine or a red-neck Republican supporter.

We are still waiting for the source! I guess we will be kept waiting...

No. It's pretty much world politics anyway. We watch and analyse to death their television shows, their films and listen to their music. We adapt their slang as our own, dude, and follow their contemperary fashions every season. Why not talk about what really matters?

I know, and i do it myself but I still think it's kinda sad, like i went into penney's looking for a cheap t shirt, and all of them had the name of some place in america in them. Why not somewhere in Ireland/europe, or even better, how about having some non-witty t shirts that aren't just the names of places.

It's kinda sad, maybe we should just be a bit concius of it and do it a bit less.

In fairness more music reaches us from the uk than the us.

I have to agree. Also its their wars, their usage of oil, their policies that have effected every one of us in Europe and across the middle east.

We are no longer an island when it comes to feeling the effects of American policy.
By looking at their leaders, can we only hope to try and control, steer and maybe, just maybe plan ahead for what a possible future leader might have instore for the rest of us all by his/her knock-on effects.

I won't start a who's better debate - this is not the section but Americas actions = our eventual reactions.

I know what you mean, I really hate "witty" t shirts. The only kind of t shirt I wear is plain black 'uns from Dunnes. The thing is, Ireland and Europe's culture just doesn't appeal to the young 'uns like Americas. Plus we as a country still admire America quite a bit so I think that's sad. But discussing the election isn't sad becuase that's relevant to everyone in the world.

Source? Link? (I'm talking about a proper one - not some random anti-Obama idiot on a blog - look at the titles of all his post - he'd swear Obama was the devil himself)

Video proof or it didn't happen!

Not that i have a problem with witty t shirts, just that on that particular occasion i wasn't looking for one (besides witty for penneys usually isn't very witty at all).

    FYP.

Try Dunnes next time, they sell loads of plain coloured (white or black) non witty t shirts whenever you're not in the mood again.

Whether it's true or not, we can't take any chances. We have to launch a pre-emptive strike on the US now. I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

But European, Japanese and Chinese policies affect the U.S. also; the EU's GDP is $3tr bigger than the US. It's up to news outlets to make a conscious decision to spread their reporting e.g. minimum of 10% African, 10% East Asian, 10% non-US Americas, max. of 20% USA. Whenever RTE report on something outside the EU/USA/Australia one gets the feeling that it is very unfamiliar to them. Japan is the world's 4th richest country - who can name their new PM? Or India's?
