An Army bomb disposal team is at the scene of a fourth suspicious object which has been found in Dublin.

The fourth object was found in a vent at Oliver Bond Street by council workers during routine maintenance.

Two other devices found earlier in Ronanstown and Ballyfermot have been made safe and it is understood they are similar in nature. It is not yet known whether they were viable or hoaxes.

The suspicious object found at Grove Lane in Coolock is understood to be an old grenade.

It was discovered in the course of a planned search by gardaí.

In the Ronanstown find, a member of the public called emergency services after seeing the device under a car.

The area was cordoned off and several houses were evacuated. A controlled explosion was carried out on the device.

The third device was found under a car on the Ballymeety Road in Ballyfermot. The immediate area was cordoned off while the device was made safe.

The Army EOD are being kept busy it seems. That's 80+ times they have been called out since January!

Right beside where I live in Rathmines where they are based primarily [me thinks].(Cathal Brugha Barracks).

I was almost knocked down by one of the blue motor bikes last year as I was crossing the street.

A home-made bomb exploded while an army bomb disposal team worked to defuse it overnight in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The team began examining the device at about 12.45am. After almost an hour, when they were defusing it, the bomb went off. No one was injured - an evacuation of the area had already taken place - but there was some damage to the house behind which the device was placed.

At the time of the explosion, neither the bomb disposal officer nor the robot used to defuse bombs was next to the device, which was located at the rear of a private house at the Milltown estate, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The remains of the device were collected and given to gardaí for examination.

Thankfully no one was injured. A close call though.

That was a lucky one for EOD. A reminder to us all of the regular danger they face. That bomb did a fair amount of damage to the house itself both outside and inside.
