    2. How much would a taxi be on a sunday evening from Heuston station to DCU

    THanks!!!

I don't live on campus but I'll give you what i know.

1- Well larksfeild is pretty small and chances are you will end up here.
Hear fire alarms are set off in the morning now and then and since its packed in a bit it can be noisy. You will have a shared kitchen and bathroom with other person (yes it could be opposite sex) and a table next to your bed. its fine for one or two people to move about but when you have ten people in one room its a bit...packed. I live in digs 30 min walk from dcu, i get a dinner at 6pm everyday. I find the only bad thing with being off campus is you don't meet people as easily as if they are always there. on campus you can eat when you want and take part in socs more so that will be a plus. and sure you can go to a mates room if you want. there are often house parties around so that would be awesome too.

2- well it cost me 14 to get from around grafton st to get to DCU on Wednesday night. I was on my own.

3- Awesome? depends on what you do with yourself really. it isn't like a collage film though. still awesome. if your on campus you will be able to get to the ballymun busstop just outside dcu.
Wait ten min for a bus and pay €1.50 and you will be in city center in about 20-30 min.

4 - suppose there is but I haven't seen anything bad yet.

Hopefully I helped a bit. I dunno which of the two I'd like to live in. Personally I think Living in hampsted would be nice if you can get there I'd go for it.

I asked dcu and i think the site was findahome.ie
they said i had to get a password from them and i would only be given out after the cao results.

So the day i got my offer. I mailed them (at 6am)
got a reply at about 2pm and got intot he site, picked out the one i liked most and called them.
work out a deal and went up to see it, she told me after that i was the first to call, after about 4 hours she got swamped with calls about it.

Basicly if your going for digs be the first

Really? I'm living in Larkfield & haven't heard of anybody in a mixed apartment but I could be wrong.

Campus is great for first year, especially if you're going to DCU not knowing many (or even any) people. Either Hampstead or Larkfield is good, Larkfield is all first years which is fun. It's pretty basic accomodation but it's completely adequate, unless you're very concerned about having a really nice room the pros far outweigh any cons. Noise isn't a problem where I am in the building anyway, the odd night people might come back from being out & be a bit noisy but security seems to deal with it pretty quickly (either that or they just shut up). Get your name in early if you want a place because it does fill up I think.

Also I think my taxis from Heuston to DCU are roughly €12-13.

On campus?... Security can enter your apartment at their will. And for all the positive talk people living on campus may give you, when you get them talking about security it sounds like they are living in a police state.

Should be around €14 - €15 (keep in mind taxi prices are going up). But if you're asking about cheep accommodation like digs, the cheaper option of a bus or Luas to O'Connell Street and then the bus up to DCU shouldn't be so hard.

It what you make it. I've seen people taking the work on the education side far too lightly and other far, far too worked up about simple things . On the other side of things there's a load of societies and sports clubs.

    No, there is not.

Pat, I come up from Waterford every Monday so I've gotten pretty used to travelling from Heuston to DCU. Easiest thing to do is get the Luas to O'Connell St. If there's not one for more than 5 minutes or theres a huge queue at the ticket machines, get the 92 bus instead. There always seems to be one waiting outside Heuston when I pass by. Either way will cost €1.50

When you get to O'Connell St, take one of the numerous buses out to DCU. I think all the one's that go out are the 4, 4A, 11, 11A, 11B, 11C, 13, 13A and 19A. With so many of them, you won't be waiting longer than 5 minutes for one to turn up. Traffic will be light on a Sunday evening so I'd estimate the journey at 10-15 mins. Again its another €1.50.

Overall it could take anyway between 30-45 mins to get from Heuston to college, more so if youre going the opposite way on a Friday evening with traffic and everything. It is a good bit longer than a taxi, but I'd much rather pay €3 than €13. That tenner savings every time you make the trip will seriously help your budget for the year.
