best producer/engineer you've worked with?

    leading on from the reference cd thread who has been the best producer/engineer you've worked with?

    mine has to be gareth lee back in his compulsion days. we were lucky in that ouyr bass player at the time was gareth's brother and got a chance to work with him.. really cool guy and knew how to get the most from a band.

    ive worked with technically better since but gareths attitude always stayed with me.

    I guess Rod Thear who now runs Thear Technology. He now does our Manley servicing for us.

    He's an ex Olympic Studios, London engineer (Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Santana, Hawkwind, King Crimson and The Bay City Rollers!) who worked in Ireland in the early 80s.

    As a spotty faced lad he was a terrific source of info at a time when I knew no other engineers, there were no recording mags and no internet!

    I must have melted his head .....

    yup, head melting was THE way to learn in the 90's..

    Literally didn't have a clue or anyone to ask!
    Trail and error after error. Great fun too though.
