I'll be curious to know too. I am finally canceling Sky after nearly a year and a half. I took it to get some nice digital reception, but realised there are other options now, and DTT is on the way. I could definitely use the money I'll save.
I'm guessing next month offer will be something like Sky+ for 49€ or one or two month at half price...nothing exciting really.

That would be cool. I'm sure some people might be interested. If it wasn't for that 15€ extra, loads of people would have subscribe...

7.50€ would be a welcome gesture alright, at least a first step towards getting people to get HD...

The only way to get ppl to change to HD is to cancel the subscription altogether like sky+

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,283 ✭✭✭Deedsie

Id be interested to know if they are bringing out a new offer also. HD looks good but that extra subscription is putting me off.

Well there is one new thing that if you refer a friend to sky and they quote Smile+HD they can get a free Sky+ box with the 50Euro installation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭mburke

Ordered sky hd and the earliest installation date is late December. Also according to sky the system has the offer ending October 30th and not today, but sky are honouring the deal but shall charge your credit card € 149 but refund € 74.50. Seemingly demand today is huge for the sky hd offer.

yea surprisingly there is a very high demand for HD and the offer does end today but i was advised i can still offer customers the half price offer 2moro. but there is a new offer starting next month i shall know it 2moro

    2 minutes ago vid.gifSky+ box only €49

There's no better time to join Sky TV. As a new customer, you can get the innovative Sky+ box for a one-off cost of €49. You'll be able to pause and rewind live TV, record a selected series automatically and fit all your favourite TV around your life. Standard installation is €50.

Create your own Sky TV package to enjoy with Sky+ and only pay for what you really want to watch. Sit back and enjoy great movies, documentaries, sport, comedy, drama and so much more. Packages start from €21 a month.

Whichever package you choose, you'll also get our Bonus Pack which includes all of your favourite terrestrial channels like RTE One, RTE Two, TV3, TG4, BBC One, BBC Two, More4, E4 and Channel 4.

Well, nothing amazing. These offers come and go, and prices keep going up. I still found the HD mix barely worth it, unless you take Sports and movies which would end up costing you a fortune. To me, the HD mix fee is there to cover the money they put in implementing the technology... One is better off waiting till there are more HD channels and NO HD mix fee...my opinion.

Just wondering has anybody an info on deals for existing customers? I'm a sky customer for 9-10 years full package, but would like to upgrade to sky + or maybe hd, just wondering is there any deals out there, i still use my original grundig box.

Word to the wise. Sky treat existing customers like ****e. All the best offers are only given to new customers. Best cancel sky and sign up again under partners name to get the best deals.

Or if he threatens cancellation as he's not getting offered the same deal as a new customer, they may offer him the deals, so that he won't cancel!
