What do you mean when you say you just got it fixed? What was originally wrong, and what was done to "fix" it?
It could be a driver issue. What's the make and model of the laptop?

I have a very similar problem! I have a Vostro 1700 and is in great nic no problems other than sometimes the wifi seems to drop in my house for no apparant reason yet I can still pick it up on my iPhone. If I go into 'network and sharing centre' I can see the connection strength still 'very good' but it is not connected to the network. Diagnosing the connection or trying to repair it doesn't work for me either, the only thing that seems to fix it is to restart the computer which is kinda annoying!

I just dont understand why even though it can still see the broadband connection and the signal is good that it sometimes drops access to the internet???

    Ah well....

Driver issue with the wireless card. Probably the dell software not working correctly. Disable the dell software and just let windows configure the wireless.

you have to run a few steps to resolve the problem.

    1. First make sure the wireless is turned on. It's usually the function key (FN) and F8. Press them together and see if it turns on.

    2. if that does not work go to http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx and select your model then go to network in the drop down menu and select the wireless driver (Intel one if available) and download + run.

    3. If that does not work go and run a dell diagnostic . (If unsure how to pm me )

    Hope this helps
